Hello and welcome to my first blog!
First let’s start with a little bit about me. I first began making handcrafted ornaments when I was a child. After a couple of years I fell out of this hobby, as children do, and moved on to other things. A few short years ago I renewed my love of this craft—quite by accident, I might add—and since then I have increased my skill set in this craft to include a wide variety of designs, styles, and themes of ornaments.
I first began getting back into this craft by making ornaments with sequins, which are very stunning in my opinion—except that they take over 8 hours to make just 1 of them, depending on the design used. I made a few of these sequin ornaments and while I do love them and may return to making them again someday, I have found an alternative that I like much better (time-wise), for now at least.
Lately, I have been spending my time making No-Sew—also call “Quilted”—Ornaments. It really is the same basic principle as making the sequin ornaments, but it takes much less time and effort to do so. Personally, I have loved these quilted ornaments so much because of the vast—and I do mean VAST—array of ornaments you can make once you have the basic knowledge of how to craft a No-Sew ornament.
Here are just a few examples of the No-Sew Ornaments I have made!
You craft No-Sew ornaments by folding and placing pieces of fabric onto Styrofoam balls, securing them with straight pins. After all the fabric has been added and the ball is completely covered, you add a final piece of fabric to cover the raw edges and then add your ribbon bow & hanger. You can choose to pretty it up even further by adding embellishments such as sequins, beads, or charms to the finished product. And Voila! You have a beautiful handmade ornament that is a wonderful gift for any occasion, or to keep for yourself! You can purchase my Tutorial for a Triple Layer No-Sew Ornament here from my shop! (I will be posting many more Tutorials as I create them, but please understand that these do take some time to create and put together).
I hope that as you explore my website you will find the tips, tricks, & inspiration necessary to make these stunning and unique ornaments. Please check out my gallery to see some of the different styles and themes of ornaments that you can make! It is truly a very satisfying craft, whether you make one yourself (with your own materials), purchase one of my DIY Kits that comes with everything you need from start to finish, or if you simply purchase one of my completed ornaments!
